Fifth SEENSA Conference

The fifth conference of the National Security Authorities of the countries of the South East Europe (SEENSA) was held on May 20, 2015 in Skopje, in co-organization of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information of the Republic of Macedonia and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC). The conference marked a small jubilee of the initiative for the meeting of the Heads of the National Security Authorities (NSAs) of the countries of the South East Europe (SEE), launched in May 2011 in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria.

The participants in the conference represented seven NSAs from the region: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. Besides the representatives of the host NSA, the conference was attended by a representative of the host country Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Co-chairs of the conference were the director of the host NSA, and the RCC Senior Adviser on Security Policy Issues. In support to the SEENSA initiative, the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union was represented by the Security Policy Administrator at the Security Office of the Council. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the host country, the Director of the Directorate for Diplomatic Academy also addressed the participants.

The aim of the conference was to maintain the tradition of promoting the regional approach, while at the same time each and every participant advances individually, reinforcing its own national policies. The agenda was focused on the presentations by the Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) on their accomplished results and future activities, as well as on the discussions on common interest of the participating nations related to the role of RCC and the further development of the SEENSA initiative.
