Which is the validity period of the security clearance certificate?

 

According to the Law on Classified Information, with regards to the classification level of the information for which they are issued, the security clearance certificates have the following validity period:

  • for TOP SECRET – 5 years;
  • for SECRET – 5 years;
  • for CONFIDENTIAL – 10 years; and
  • for RESTRICTED – 10 years.

The validity period of the security clearance certificate may be terminated before the period that the certificate has been issued for has expired in case certain events prescribed in the Law on Classified Information have occurred.

The validity period of the security clearance certificate for the elected state officials, stipulated in Article 36 of the Law on Classified Information lasts until the end of their official mandate.
